In this course, we will experiment with different writing styles and genres. This course is designed for intermediate/experienced writers who want to challenge themselves to get out of their comfort zones and try out new methods of writing.
We will explore non-traditional writing techniques such as sound poetry, magic realism, conceptual writing, pilish, and many more. Creative prompts and exercises, as well as examples, will be provided to allow participants to experiment and explore that writing technique. There will also be feedback circles in which participants can share their work in order to receive constructive criticism from the instructor and from their peers.
By the end of the course, we will have covered a wide variety of experimental and nontraditional writing techniques. At this point, participants will have written several polished pieces which they will be able to showcase by making DIY chapbooks/zines.
