Instructor: Lorene Stanwick
April 15 to June 17
Thursdays 4-6PM
SelfStories Theatre provides an opportunity to find and express the stories that live within. The first session is all about exploration - diving in to discover, uncover, and recover moments and memories, parts of ourselves, those whose lives are woven into ours.
The second session focuses on developing what’s been generated in the first session. Participants will choose, gather, edit and develop pieces into scripts, and rehearse them to be performance-ready. This is done in an environment free from judgement, building trust with the instructor and other members of the group. With ongoing input and direction with instructor Lorene Stanwick, you will have the opportunity to perform your 10-minute solo theatre pieces for the Workman Arts Spring Showcase.
NOTE: this course is open to those participants currently registered in the SelfStories Theatre Winter session.
About the Instructor:
Lorene Stanwick is a playwright, actor, and producer/co-founder of CreateTruth Productions, as well as a member and instructor with Workman Arts, and the 2017-18 Theatre Artist-in Residence. She has trained in Drama-in-Education and is a Certified Canadian Counsellor. Her play, Broken Branches, produced in association with Workman Arts in 2019, explores the aftermath of sibling abuse, the least-discussed but most-prevalent form of domestic abuse. She is currently working on her own solo play. www.createtruthproductions.com
