Devised Theatre Practice; with inclusive specialized training in emotional and psychological boundary and consent practice.

Students will learn about the history of selected devised forms of theatre from around the world, and then translate this through the creation of monologues and scenes. Thematically, the course will focus on processing psychological, emotional, social and cultural trauma, particularly engaging how individuals and communities process and survive traumatic experiences. Also, this course will instruct students on a new technique for ensuring emotional and psychological boundaries and consent.

The course objectives include:

- learning about the history of devised theatre - learning techniques in devised theatre creation - learning techniques in emotional/psychological boundary and consent work - learning to write/create their own material - learning how to communicate their stories safely in a supportive environment

About the instructor: Rosanna Saracino is a theatre director and educator, with a specialized interest in trauma theatre and emotional and psychological consent and boundary practice. As a theatre maker, Rosanna's work has principally focused on adaptations challenging traditional practices, devised work which showcases outsider ideas, themes, stories and individuals. Her stage work is movement, image and text driven, often featuring larger cast sizes. As an educator, she train actors and directors, and have developed a new training methodology focused on instructing creatives in emotional IQ, and emotional and psychological consent and boundaries to ensure best practices.
