Utilizing embodiment-based movement practices and improvisation, Permission to Move seeks to bring new and experienced dancers alike back into their body in order to express, release, and heal. Each week focuses on a specific, often personal, theme that we work out through dance and movement to tell our story. No dance experience required. All bodies welcomed & encouraged.
Materials: Device with Internet connection. If you have any access or material needs, please let Cynella know.
About the instructor: Meek is a fat, LGBTQ+,mad performer and dancer with invisible disabilities. He obtained technical training from Dimensions in Dance, and has since worked with companies and studios such as Propeller Dance and The Pink Studio. He is the lead artist and Director of #CreateDangerously and is in the creation stages of his first full physical theatre production addressing the realities of eating disorders through dance. Meek's work leans towards contemporary and abstract. He choreographs using an embodiment-based movement practice, bringing people into their body first and curating through technical training second.
