Podcasting 101 & 102
Course participants will learn the essential skills and tools to produce and publish a high quality audio podcast. Through a 10 week series of presentations, exercises and critical listening sessions, students will explore the art of telling stories with sound. In the first half we will focus on audio recording and editing basics, the rudiments of scripting, narrating and interviewing techniques. In the second half of the course participants will focus on producing and publishing a finished pilot episode of their podcast.
Materials: Device with internet access (laptopor iPad), headphones, production software. If you have any access or material needs, please let Cynella know.
About the instructor: Violette Craig Innes. (FKA Craig Riddock) is genderqueer multidisciplinary vIsual artist, musician and podcaster born in Toronto in 1968. Violette studied multimedia art at Emily Carr in the early 90’s and later studied audio recording at TARA in 2006-07. Currently They are presently hosting a Free Little Art Gallery and pop up Gallery in Roncesvalles / High Park. Violette’s band The Basements of Scarberia has become a remote home recording project. Their podcast Shut Off That Noise is on a bit of a hiatus but continues to be listened to on a daily basis by a global audience.
