Merging classical atelier and contemporary processes, this workshop focuses on the fundamentals of different oil painting techniques. This will include demonstrations on indirect and direct painting, values, colour relationships, and form building. Students will create studies exploring these topics, and develop a larger narrative piece utilizing strategies learnt in class.

About the instructor: Olivia Di Gregorio is an internationally exhibited and published painter based in Toronto. She graduated from OCAD University in 2019 with a Bachelor of Design in Illustration, and a minor in Drawing & Painting. In 2021, Di Gregorio was selected as a finalist in the Beautiful Bizarre Magazine Art Prize in the traditional art category, exhibited work at Modern Eden in San Francisco using a grant awarded from the Ontario Arts Council, and was published in Booooooom's 'Tomorrow's Talent Vol. Il' curated art book. Di Gregorio also recently closed her first solo exhibition, ‘Children of a Midnight Spring’, at the Likely General in Toronto.
